Using the magic of 3D modelling technology, this map of the isles of Mull and Iona has been restored from a 1934 map by the Edinburgh-based cartographers John Bartholomew and Son Limited. The original print has been scanned using a museum-quality scanner, colour-corrected, and carefully restored to remove damage, while still retaining the feel of the original vintage map. The map has then been combined with satellite data to produce a strikingly realistic relief effect.

Iona, famed for its Christian sanctuary and long spiritual history, and Mull, home to the famous painted houses of Tobermory, are brought beautifully to life on this map.

    • Due to the technique used, areas may be obscured by shadows, particularly where relief is most extreme (e.g. mountainous regions).

    • Print colours may vary slightly to those displayed on your monitor, due to differences in screen calibration and brightness.

    • These maps were originally designed to be printed at the larger 24x32 inch (60×80cm) size. Fine details, including labels, may be too small to easily read at 18x24 inch (45×60cm) size. The effect remains just as striking though!
